Frequently Asked Questions
How old do I have to be to get a tattoo?
Here at Inner Visions Tattoo, you must be at least 18 years old to get a tattoo. We require you to have a valid state issued ID or a valid passport as identification.
Do I need to have my own design?
No, here at Inner Visions Tattoo we pride ourselves on our custom work. We can design the tattoo to your specifications. We do however appreciate any reference pictures that you have to give us a better idea of what you are thinking and what direction to go with your tattoo.
How are your tattoos priced?
We have a $100 minimum, meaning that this is the lowest price of any tattoos that we do. On smaller tattoos, usually something that is going to take under 2-3 hours we charge based on the design. We take into consideration many different aspects of the tattoo including size, detail, placement, etc. On larger custom tattoos and multiple session tattoos we typically charge either half day or full day sessions. A half day tattoo session is 4 hours and a full day session is about 8 hours of tattoo time. We have a set rate for each artist for our half day and full day tattoo sessions. For more information about the what your tattoo idea would cost you can contact us here.
What forms of payment do you accept?
We accept cash, and credit/debit cards as well as Apple Pay. Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and American Express are all acceptable forms of payment. We DO NOT accept checks, cashiers checks, money orders, Venmo, Paypal, Cashapp or any other forms of payment at this time.
Do you accept walk ins?
We do accept walk in tattoos when we have time. We are typically booked however, and recommend setting an appointment for your tattoo. You are more than welcome to call the shop ahead of time to check our availability for the day, or pop into the shop to see if we can get you in, but again, appointments are recommended for your tattoo.
How are tattoo consultations done?
At Inner Visions Tattoo, tattoo consultations are always free. We recommend calling or emailing us to set up a time for your consultation ahead of time, that way the tattoo artist can focus their time completely on you. Consultations usually last anywhere from 5-15 minutes to discuss your tattoo ideas and move forward with setting up an appointment. Consultations can often times be done through email as well. This can save a lot of time, especially when the idea is pretty straight forward.
How do I set up a tattoo appointment?
There are two ways to set up a tattoo appointment. The first way would be to come into the shop and speak with a tattoo artist about your tattoo ideas, and schedule an appointment that way. The second way to set a tattoo appointment is by contacting us and discussing your tattoo ideas with us. From there we can schedule a time that works for both the artist and the client.
Is there a deposit required to set a tattoo appointment?
Yes. We require a minimum of a $100 deposit in order to set your tattoo appointment. The deposit goes towards the total price of the tattoo. All deposits are non refundable. If you do not show up for your appointment or change your mind about the tattoo, you lose the deposit due to the fact that we could have scheduled someone else in that time slot, and we may have already spent time on your tattoo design. Remember, if you did not leave a deposit, you do not have an appointment.
What if I can't make it in for my appointment?
We understand that things come up and you may have to reschedule your tattoo appointment. We require a minimum of 48 hours notice in order to reschedule your appointment without losing your deposit. If you call us 15 minutes before your appointment to reschedule, it is very likely that we will need to get a new deposit from you.
Is there anything I should do to prepare for my tattoo appointment?
Yes, there are a few things you can do to prepare for your new tattoo. The first thing is to get a good night sleep the night before your tattoo appointment. A well rested body and mind make the tattoo experience a lot easier to deal with. Avoid excessive alcohol consumption the night before your tattoo. Another great tip is to eat a good hearty meal before your appointment. Getting tattooed on an empty stomach is not a good idea, you will need food in your system to maintain your blood sugar levels and to help your energy levels as well. Wear comfortable clothing, and feel free to bring in a book, or headphones to listen to your own music and get in the zone.
Can I bring a friend with me?
Yes, feel free to bring a friend with you for support or just to have someone to talk to while you are getting tattooed. Due to health department regulations though, we can only allow one other person in the tattoo area with you at a time.
Can I bring my kids with me?
Inner Visions Tattoo is a family friendly shop. However, children are not permitted in the tattoo area and can not be left unsupervised in the tattoo shop. We strongly recommend not bringing in your kids during a tattoo procedure. If your children are caught drawing on the walls, swinging from the ceiling, or attempting back flips off the counter tops, we will kindly ask them to leave.
Is there anything you won't tattoo?
Actually, yes. We do not tattoo any gang related images or any hateful or racist images. Also, we do not tattoo fingers or toes. The ink does not hold up very well in these areas. Tattoos on the hands, neck and face are at the artists discretion. If you are heavily covered in tattoos and have a career or lifestyle that will not be affected, we may decide to do these tattoos. However, if you are 18 years old and you want your first tattoo across your forehead, there is a 99.999% chance we will turn you down. All tattoos are done solely at the artists discretion.
What is the proper amount to tip your artist?
Tipping your tattoo artist is not mandatory but it is definitely appreciated. Most of our clients tip between 15%-25%. But I promise whether you tip more than that, less than that, or choose to not tip at all, we will still be happy knowing that we did the best tattoo possible for you!
How much are touch ups?
If the tattoo was done here at Inner Visions, we offer free touch ups in the first year of the tattoo being done. We take pride in what we do and we guarantee our work 100%. However, if you come back 10 years later and say "hey, my tattoo looks a little faded" then obviously there will be a charge for that.
What is the recommended aftercare for my new tattoo?
After your tattoo is done, we will put a bandage on it for you. We recommend leaving the bandage on overnight. This helps your pores close up a bit and also helps to avoid any unwanted dirt, dust, pet hair, etc. entering into your new tattoo. Once you remove the bandage in the morning, thoroughly wash your tattoo with a mild fragrance free liquid soap such as Dial, Soft Soap, Dove, Ivory or anything comparable. Avoid using bar soaps and avoid body washes due to the fragrances they contain. After washing your tattoo, gently pat dry with a clean towel. Do not rub or scrub your new tattoo. We recommend gently washing your tattoo at least 3-5 times per day during the healing process.
Use a fragrance free lotion such as Aveeno, Lubriderm or any other fragrance free white lotion. Use a very small amount, and gently massage the lotion into the new tattoo until it is fully absorbed into your skin. Use the lotion as needed, whenever your tattoo starts to feel slightly dry to the touch, usually about 3-5 times per day, for about 2-3 weeks.
After a few days into the healing, you may notice scabs or light flaking starting to appear on your new tattoo. This is completely normal. Do not pick or scratch at the scabs. All of the scabs and flakes are connected to the ink underneath your skin, and if they come off before they are ready, they could potentially pull the ink out with them.
Avoid direct sunlight for at least 2-3 weeks. It takes a few weeks for the ink to settle into your skin, and any direct sunlight can cause your tattoo to fade prematurely. After the initial 2-3 weeks, we recommend using a quality sunblock on your tattoo to keep your tattoo from fading.
Avoid soaking or swimming for 2-3 weeks. Your new tattoo is an open wound, and any water other than taking a normal shower can introduce unwanted bacteria into your tattoo which can lead to infection, fading or other healing problems.

Does it hurt?
No FAQ would be complete without this question, but you can read our full article here. Everybody has a little bit different definition of "hurt". For the most part, it is more of an irritating feeling. Most people would compare it to a scratch or a sunburn. Different areas of the body can be more sensitive than others. The best advice I've ever heard on this topic, and it is definitely true.... The more you want the tattoo, the less it hurts!
